Career Opportunity - Childcare Provider

Goal

The role of a Childcare Provider is to provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to children while on our church campus in a clean environment. The Childcare Provider reports to the Acting Director of Lifespan Faith Development. The Childcare Provider supports the purposes and policies of First Unitarian of Memphis and its Faith Development program.

Hours

Mostly Sundays for 2-5 hours. Church groups who inquire about childcare for events beyond Family Ministry programming will submit requests to the Director of Congregational Life, who will provide childcare staff as needed.

Qualifications

Childcare Providers must be at least 14 years of age, be willing to complete Childcare and First Aid training, pass the mandatory background check provided and paid for by First Unitarian of Memphis, have great communication skills, possess a willingness to work as a member of a childcare and Family Ministry team, have very good time-management skills, and should be able to solve problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a health screening prior to arriving for scheduled shift, including a temperature check. Temperature must be less than 100.4 degrees without fever reducer.
  • Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which might include feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play.
  • Greet families and children, be polite and friendly.
  • Childcare hours include most Sundays from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM and are subject to change. Evening hours for other events staffed as needed.
  • Stay until all children are secured with a responsible adult named on the child's registration form.
  • When outdoors, help disinfect and put away toys and make sure trash is not left on the playground. If indoors, ensure that Nursery or any room used for childcare is left in an appropriate condition. Opening and Closing duties are posted and should be followed. All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. A sanitizing solution and wipes will be available to use.
  • In case of an emergency with a child, contact the Acting Director of Lifespan Faith Development. If necessary, a staff person will notify parent(s)/guardian(s).
  • Report to the Acting Director of Lifespan Faith Development any issues which are hindering assigned duties or responsibilities. Communicate in advance if you cannot work your scheduled shift.
  • Other duties as assigned
