The Church of the River Special Announcement

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our church building is closed at least through December, 2020.

Staff members are primarily working from home, but we check email and voice mail regularly. Please read this explanation from UUA's Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray.

Our regular church services are suspended but virtual services are available.

Welcome to the First Unitarian Church of Memphis - The Church of the River

Who are we? As part of the liberal Unitarian Universalist denomination, we’re a diverse, progressive and caring congregation. We care about social justice, the environment and each other. We welcome you no matter where you come from, what color your skin is or who you love. If you’re looking for a community of like-minded people to help you grow your soul, raise compassionate children, and live a fuller life, we invite you to join us. Our church office is temporarily closed, and the staff is primarily working from home. Contact us by, by instant message on social media, or 901-526-8631; leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 hours.

Sunday Schedule

Our Sunday morning Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. is held online.

All scheduled activities at the church are currently cancelled. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, following the leads of several other religious institutions, and the advice of the UUA.
